Chromebook Issue FAQs


My Chromebook isn’t turning on:


Is it charging? Are there any lights on the Chromebook to the left of the charge port? 

Is the light amber? If yes, let charge for 5 minutes--try and turn on. 

If it still wont turn on--  Please call your school site for a replacement.


Is the light flashing white?  Please call your school site for a replacement.


My Chromebook’s screen is rotated: (See YouTube for video directions)


The quickest and easiest way to rotate your screen is to press and hold CTRL + Shift and the Refresh key on your keyboard. The Refresh key looks like a circle with an arrow on it, located just above the numbers 3 and 4 on your keyboard. Each time you do, your screen will rotate 90 degrees clockwise


 



My Chromebook login screen is just spinning:

  1. Try turning off Chromebook and turning back on. Hold the power button until Chromebook completely shuts down, press and hold the power button for about 3 seconds to turn on. 
  2. If still spinning, click the “back” button in the bottom left corner.


How to connect your Chromebook to wifi at home: (See YouTube for video directions)

  1. Turn on the Chromebook.
  2. Your Chromebook will automatically look for available networks and show them to you in a list.
  3. Select Your home Wi-Fi network 
  4. Type the network password.
  5. Select Connect.


 



I forgot my google password/email:


After the 12th of August and using the information sheet sent home from the District---still having an issue--please call Tech Services to get your account password reset


How do I connect to my VUSD HotSpot? (See YouTube for video directions)

  1. At the bottom right, select the time.
  2. Select Not Connected . Note: If you see your Wi-Fi network name and a signal strength, your Chromebook is already connected to Wi-Fi.
  3. Turn on Wi-Fi.
  4. Your Chromebook will automatically look for available networks and show them to you in a list.
  5. Select VUSD HotSpot  Wi-Fi network 


6. Select Connect.

7. Chromebook will automatically connect



 




My Chromebook turns off or restarts when I move it:


Please call your school site to pick up a replacement


My Chromebook says “The OS is missing”:


Please call your school site to pick up a replacement


My Chromebook is missing keys/ a key fell off:


Please call your school site to pick up a replacement


My Chromebook’s trackpad isn’t working:


Please call your school site to pick up a replacement

My HotSpot doesn’t have any internet connection:


Restart the HotSpot. Trying moving to a different location inside your home. Sit near a window. 


If you’ve tried all the above and still is not working, please call Tech Services to set up a replacement pick up
