Hello and welcome to VUSD. This document will assist you in getting started with setting up your new laptop and will guide you through some important steps you will want to follow to make using the device and programs much easier. This will also hopefully answer some of your questions along the way as well. Please follow all steps before using your device.

2. The screen will change to a loading page...This can take anywhere between 5 minutes and 1 hour, unfortunately. Please ensure it is plugged in and connected to the Internet during this setup process.

3. Once it's complete, the screen will change to the "home" screen. See below

4. With this screen open, in the search bar, search "Outlook" and choose the 2nd option that does NOT say "classic."
Open the app

5. Follow steps to sign in using your @vusd.org credentials.
-Once you are signed in, email should open and load as normal.
-With Outlook open, 2 finger click on the app in the Taskbar and choose "Pin to taskbar."

6. Navigate over to the search bar at the bottom of the screen and type in "default apps". Here you will look for Google Chrome and set this as your default browser, as we do not use Edge.

7. Next you will want to go back to the search bar and look for "Google Drive" you can right click and add this to the task bar, once that is done you can open google drive and log in. The log in will open in a new internet browser page once logged in the message will say to close the browser and return to the drive. After logging in you will want to follow the prompts selecting all the boxes to be backed up to google drive: Downloads, Documents, Desktop, Photos, and videos (photos and videos will show up after hitting next). You should now be logged in to drive, this saves everything that you do so that if you have to change devices your work follows you. It is important that you complete this step so that you work is not lost in the event that your device no longer works.

8. Open a new google browser and sign in up in the top right right corner using your vusd.us credentials.
*note: all programs related to google will use your .us credentials and anything Microsoft will be the .org*
After logging in you will see two identical icons with the first letter of your name or your profile picture at the top right corner. You can click on the three dots and scroll down to bookmarks to show your bookmarks bar.

9. Printing! Our devices come with the VUSD COPIERS automatically installed, and you are free to use them in black and white only unless provided permission to print in color from your admin. Once you are granted permission, your admin will reach out to purchasing to add to your profile. To use the copiers you will need to log in with your employee ID so please have that handy.
