How to change the VUSD VPN portal address from pvpn.vusd.org to vpn.vusd.org
We are moving to a newer, more secure VPN login system that uses your Google vusd.us account to log in. To change the portal from the old (pvpn.vusd.org) to the new (vpn.vusd.org), follow the steps below.
- Click the GlobalProtect icon. On Windows computers, it's an icon that looks like a gray globe down by your clock:

On a Mac, it's an icon that looks like a black and white or gray globe.

- When the Palo Alto GlobalProtect window comes up, click the three lines at the top-right and then click "Settings".

- Under "Manage Portals", click on "pvpn.vusd.org" to highlight it, then click the pencil icon to edit. Remove the "p" so it reads "vpn.vusd.org". Then click "Save Changes".

- Click "Sign Out". This will sign you out of your old account so you can now sign in with your Google account.
- Close the settings window.
ULTRA MEGA SUPER IMPORTANT NEXT STEP:
Read this first before reconnecting to the VPN. When you reconnect, you'll be asked to log in with your Google vusd.us account the first time. After logging in, a box will pop up asking if you want to "Always allow vpn.vusd.org to open links of this type in the associated app". You must put a checkmark in that box and then click "Open GlobalProtect". If you do not check the box, the GlobalProtect client will get stuck at "Connecting". If that happens, follow the "Troubleshooting" section below to log out of the client and refresh the connection. You may have to do this a couple times before you see the box pop up with the "Always allow..." checkbox again.
- This should connect you to the VPN. The first time after connecting to the new portal, you may see a window that says the following. Don't worry about this message. Just click "OK". It will only happen once after changing the portal.

Troubleshooting
- If the VPN does not connect or the icon just "spins", follow these steps:
- Occasionally, the first time the system opens your web browser, you'll only see a white screen. If this happens, close all your browser windows, click the GlobalProtect icon, click the three lines, and then click "Refresh Connection". This should bring up the browser window again and allow you to log in with your Google account.
- If the GlobalProtect icon is spinning like it's connecting and you can't open it to get to the settings, restart your computer and try again.
- If you still can't connect, open the GlobalProtect settings and do the following:
- Verify the portal is vpn.vusd.org
- If it shows a logged-in user, click sign out and try connecting again.
- If that doesn't work, click the three lines and choose refresh connection. This should force a Google login prompt.
- If the steps above do not work, clear the cookies and cache for the day on the browser and try all steps above in this order: clear cookies/cache, sign out of GlobalProtect, refresh connection.
- If you are signed in with a personal account to Google in your browser and not your vusd.us account, you'll have to log out and back in with your vusd.us account and will probably have to go through the rest of the steps above (clear cookies/cache, sign out of GlobalProtect, refresh connection).
- If you can't connect after trying these steps, create a ticket at https://servicetickets.vusd.org or call our helpdesk at 559-730-7627 and the Tech Services team will assist you.
